More Per-AP Control Options

In the 2.6.0 release, we added Per-AP Wireless Network Assignment and Per-AP Quiet Light Mode to give our users enhanced flexibility to better fit their environment.

  • Per-AP Wireless Network Assignment

Do you have an SSID set up only for the lobby or back office? Maybe you have some access points dedicated for individual rooms? Many times, you may not want to broadcast all SSIDs on all APs to keep some of the networks private and reduce Wi-Fi interference. With the 2.6.0 release, you can now control SSID broadcast using “Network Assignment”. There are two ways to adjust the settings.

For a given wireless network, on the network assignment page, you can include and exclude each AP for the wireless network access. By default, all APs are selected for access to a new wireless network.

Alternatively, for each AP, you can adjust the network assignment to change which network(s) a given AP can have access to. By default, all wireless networks are selected for access to the AP.

  • Per-AP Quiet Light Mode

LEDs are great indicators for easy visual status check, but they can be distracting, such as when the AP is located nearby on a desktop or conference room. In the 2.6.0 release, we enhanced the Quiet Light Mode feature and have it configurable for individual APs. Now you can decide to have the LEDs on or off for each AP at each location at any time.

On the access point details page for each AP, you can choose between the normal mode and Quiet Light Mode for access point lights. When an AP is in Quiet Light Mode, the status and radio lights will stay off.

Guest Captive Portal with Pre-shared Key

The 2.6.0 release also rearranges and improves the wireless guest network settings. For each wireless guest network, you can first set the security option as password-protected or open, and then choose whether to enable the guest captive portal. With the change, a new option was added to allow both pre-shared key and captive portal enabled. By default, the password option is selected as the recommended best practice for a secure guest network.

Here are some additional feature enhancements in the new release you may be interested in:

  • Enhanced client Health Status for better visibility on client connection status and diagnostics support.

  • Added FQDN support for Radius server address (in addition to existing IP option).

  • Added options for router mode restricted access.

  • And more.
