I just upgraded an Aruba 1930 JL685A switch from firmware version 1.0.2.0 to 3.0.0 in one shot without any issues.

In version 2.7 and higher trunk port always lost untagged vlan (vlan 1 for me) after reboot/power off.

Thank you for help

In the 2.9.1.17 firmware zipfile, it comes with two additional files:

  • uboot_pilgrim.hpe_signed.bin
  • booton_pilgrim.hpe_signed.bin

However, there's no guidance on how to apply them.  These files aren't accepted by the UI under Maintenance -> Backup and Update Files.  Neither the release notes nor Readme_2.9.1.17_1930.txt file explain them.

How do we know if these are needed and how to apply them?

@arubamar: Have you set the correct time on your switch?

Mine updates its time via NTP and the 2.9 update has worked fine.

Here's a screenshot showing the problem. Can you help me with that? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TsWAa-3idUNtEEFDM-uYvH7It_iw9hic/view?usp=sharing

My 1930 throws an error saying that the new version 2.9 is too old

10-31-2023 11:50 PM

Downloading 2.9.0 fails - the link has an expiration that is already expired.

I was having a lot of errors till I reboot, also used firefox after seeing the last post. It worked. Updated to 2.6 first from 2.5 and then to 2.8

08-26-2023 01:09 PM

Requiring Firefox to perform firmware updates is crazy. Why can't I use Safari or Chrome???

07-28-2023 09:35 AM

Hallo.

After updating the firmware, I would like to keep the old version as a 'Backup Image': how can I do this?

Isn't it automatically saved when updating?

Tks.

04-04-2023 09:22 AM

No it not work

03-27-2023 08:06 PM

@BN84 Did you try clicking on the "Download" under the software tab? It is working for me.

Try the direct link: https://community.arubainstanton.com/HigherLogic/System/DownloadDocumentFile.ashx?DocumentFileKey=503fc1e6-8bd2-64a5-5374-19e2a420b267&forceDialog=0

@FL11  Thank you :)

03-16-2023 11:37 AM

@vs1  You have to perform the upgrade via the web interface:

Maintenance--> Backup and Update Files--> Update

Make sure to select the "Backup image"

03-16-2023 01:36 AM

@FL11 , thank you for your help.

Can you please share me detail process on how to upgrade 1930 from 1.0.5.0 to 1.0.7.0.

03-15-2023 11:36 AM

@vs1 Yes, you will need to perform a multi-step upgrade.  The changelog let's you know which version to upgrade to from the version of firmware you have

03-15-2023 11:29 AM

Hi,

Can someone please let me now if i can upgrade directly to version 2.7.0.103 or i need go step by step i..e. from 1.0.7.0, 2.5.0.42, 2.6.0.74 to 2.7.0.103.

01-24-2023 03:18 AM

Hi,
How to integrate aruba-instant 1930 with IMC-server.

11-27-2022 05:46 PM

8G 2SFP Switch. Updated from 1.0.5 to 2.70.103
vlan tagging for pppoe worked fine and now broken. Any tagging manipulations dont help. What to do? I want to rollback to 1.0.5 but it seems impossible. Developers locked downgrade.

related to "wrong magic number error":
You have to unzip the downloaded file and upload the .swi file to the switch.

11-21-2022 05:30 PM

@ mnewgard  Try TFTP.  I am going to assume you are uploading the correct firmware file ending with .swi extension.

11-21-2022 05:15 PM

@FL have tried to go to 2.6 then to 2.7 with the same error. Go to maintenance-backup and update files- update(transfer a file to the swtich)-backup image- and trying https

11-21-2022 04:53 PM

@mnewgard  Try going from 2.5 to 2.6 and then 2.7.  I've never seen the wrong magic number error.  Are you copying the firmware to the "Backup Image" under the file type?

11-21-2022 04:22 PM

@FL11 have tried chrome and firefox. The error I am receiving is "Copy: Wrong magic number- downloaded file is not compatible"

11-21-2022 03:04 PM

@MarkusWeiler  You might have to perform several step upgrades in order to get to the latest version.  I remember reading somewhere that you couldn't go directly from 1.0 to 2.7 because there are some major revisions in the firmware.

11-21-2022 02:47 PM

@mnewgard you can try using a tftp server to upload the firmware.  You can also try Firefox.  I just updated from 2.5 to 2.7.  Are you getting an error?

11-21-2022 02:01 PM

having same issue when trying to update firmware. Came with 2.5 and we tried both 2.5 and 2.7 with error wrong magic number

11-18-2022 06:15 AM

Just tried several times to upgrade from 1.0.7.0 (141) to either the most recent 2.7.0.103 or the first 2.xxx version 2.5.0.42. Both uploads fail with the message "Copy: Wrong magic number - downloaded file is not compatible!".
Anyone else has or had this problem? Found nothing about this..

06-29-2022 09:50 PM

We are also waiting on SSH functionality? Is there an ETA?

03-25-2022 01:19 PM

Any news about access the switch by SSH or Telnet to get CLI?

03-17-2022 12:44 AM

@WK83 SNMP is available when managed locally via the web page of the switch. Not too sure if it is available if managed via the cloud controller, I prefer to manage our switches locally as there seems to be more functionlaity.

03-16-2022 09:59 AM

Does version 2.5.0.42 allow enabling SNMP while in Web Management mode?

02-15-2022 05:17 PM

I was on 1.0.7 and the switch updated itself to 2.5 without my 'consent'
/Locally Managed

12-07-2021 05:04 PM

Thank you very much by your reponse. I will check the last version in my SW.

Best Regards.

12-04-2021 04:21 PM

Hey @itgiec,

This page has firmware updates for users that maintain the switch by managing it locally and not utilizing the cloud function.  In the setup process, you are asked how you are going to manage the switch, locally or through the instanton portal.  Locally just means you log into the IP of the switch and perform all updates directly on the switch.  Hope this helps

12-02-2021 05:18 PM

Hi all.-

May I know what it means that version 1.0.7.0 is Local Management only. I can understand that it does not work with Aruba cloud to be able to monitor my switch?

Thank you very much.

11-11-2021 01:18 PM

Hey @Jimmy_Kinateder ,

Try a different browser when uploading a new firmware.  I had the same issue using Chrome.  I was able to perform the upgrade using Firefox.
** Also, make sure to select "Backup Image" when selecting file type.**

The ifSpeed SNMP object identifier incorrectly reports the network interface speed in MB per second.

11-04-2021 04:02 PM

Hi,
Update yesterday on 2 switch without problem

11-04-2021 03:24 PM

Is anyone having issues updating firmware to either 1_0_5_0 or 1_0_7_0?   I am receiving the following for both when I have tried to update: "Copy: Configuration copy failed. Configuration file header is invalid or not found."

10-13-2021 11:26 PM

Is anyone enable SNMP feature at firmware version 1.0.5(139)?
I try to enable snmp and managed switch by  HPE IMC , but IMC  device category as Desktop ..

following is my  snmp configuration which export from my 1930 switch

snmp-server server
snmp-server community public ro 192.168.99.190 view public
snmp-server community private rw 192.168.99.190 view private
snmp-server host 192.168.99.190 traps version 2c public

Can anyone advices ?

09-02-2021 01:58 AM

"InstantOn_1930_1_0_5_0_139.swi" bu güncellemeyi yapınca menülere zor girmeye başladı

08-25-2021 03:23 AM

Why is is so hard for HPE to provide firmware?  I tried the search function looking for the firmware for JL683A as you would expect via the support pages, but no, I have to find it in a bleeping community post via Google?

Poor form.  Lift your game HPE.

When updating firmware from version 1.0.1.0 (116) to InstantOn_1930_1_0_5_0_139 it recognizes the SFP + BIDI 10GBASE-BX SFP + 1270nm-TX / 1330nm-RX 10km DOM LC SMF Transceiver Module. You see a problem in the GUI because the 10G link speed configuration is stuck on ports 49, 50, 51 and 52, when uninstalling the SFP it does not return to autonegotiation.

07-19-2021 09:23 AM

now it seems to be working again....

07-19-2021 07:44 AM

Thought it was just me. I had trouble downloading any of these files. Would not work properly when clicked. Right click and save link as resulted in failed- forbidden.

07-19-2021 07:21 AM

All download links are dead? :(

Can someone solve this issue?

01-25-2021 05:26 AM

Jamie,

when do we expect  link to 1.0.3.0 (131)  download ?

01-19-2021 02:21 AM

when customer purchases switches they cone with version 1_0_3_0
why is this version not available for download?

01-18-2021 03:31 PM

Where is the 1.0.3.0 download? New devices come with it installed and it was released a month ago...

01-14-2021 04:41 PM

No 1.0.3.0 download?
InstantOn web portal has it, but not locally managed switches?

01-11-2021 03:45 PM

Where is the 1.0.3.0 download?

12-16-2020 01:59 AM

Why is version 1.0.3.0 (131) not available for download ?
Just received 2 new 1930's with it already installed.

12-11-2020 08:09 AM

Isnt 1.0.1.0_125 a typing error ? you get 1.0.2.0_125 when you click download!

12-11-2020 03:54 AM

As you can see from the banner on the top of this page, this is only meant for the instant on switches, not access points.

I understand it in such a way that 1.0.2.0_125 is a normal non beta release. It's running on my switch as well.

12-10-2020 07:41 AM

is 1.02 still beta as it is listed in the downloads but not as latest version? will there be AP firmware listed here is well?

10-29-2020 11:25 PM

InstantOn_1930_1.0.2.0_125.swi
Why did you disappear?
Is there a problem?
When is the next version coming?
