    Hi

How safe is it to buy used / open box Access Points..

Is there anyway to reset them to know they are safe? is it possible to modify the hardware and loading some sort of spyware / malware ?

The AP can be factory reset and there are checks in place for loading code to help prevent spyware from being loaded.

How safe are open box / used devices ?

What checks are in place to prevent tampering ?

There are many retailers that when shipping an item will open the box to make sure the device works so that you don't receive a DOA device. How safe are these to use?

All boxes are sealed with stickers from the factory, and once devices have access to the internet and communicate with the Cloud that starts the 90 phone support warranty.

You are just avoiding the question.

The boxes have been opened therefore the seal would be broken. How safe are these to use ? ..

What checks are in place that hardware and software has not been tampered with ?

    We've had this talk before

If rogue software is tried to inject then no boot but reload genuine.
When tempored with hardware, then no boot.

TPM Module is in all Aruba accesspoints.

Repreated queations: But how does it work? Feels like a 5 year old is asking. I don't know how to explain simpele.

Is it a hardware TPM or a firmware/software TPM..  Software TPM's are vulnerable to software bugs obviously..

I would like a conclusive answer as to

    1. Is buying used safe?
    2. tampering with the devices.

    It's hareware / chipset based.

To buy used is safe, when previous owner removes his ap from his site, the ap is reset.
All as new exept the 90 day warrenty, since it's used.

When it's tampered with, chipset will know. Read-Point 6

Might want to check with Aruba instant on support..  They are under the impressions that you cant gaurantee anything has been loaded, as the tpm means nothing

Maybe actually gettimg some reply from Aruba would help
