  • 1.  Version 2.0 - Connected Managed Switch on AP15 shown in Clients

    Posted 05-05-2020 07:53 AM

I recently updated to Version 2.0 of Aruba Instant On.
Now the wired Clients are also shown.

i currently don't have any wired Clients attached, but one AP 15 shows an Managed Switch, it is connected to, as Client.
I do have 2 other AP15 which are directly cabled to an unmanaged Switch which don't show this Switch as Client.

Is this intended and should it work like that?

@Ibeme Thank you for the feedback on connected devices and this is not an expected behavior and will be passing this along to the product team for investigation.

    @GThiesen

I provisioned an AP11d today while being connected to the LAN.
On that AP I also noticed that the Managed Switch of the Uplink Port of the AP is shown under Client when the AP is connected.

I also do have some AP15 that are connected with a Wireless Uplink.
Is connecting a Client to the only Ethernet Port supported and working if the AP15 is connection to the network through a Wireless Uplink?

Or are Wired Clients only supported when connected with an AP11d? (With that I tested it and it is working fine)

    Thank you in advance

@Ibeme Wired clients are only supported on the AP11D. When you have a AP15 connected "Over the Air" and the ethernet port is plugged into a device it will try to use that port to connect as an ethernet connected AP.

    Thank you for clarification.
Would it be possible to support wired clients on this APs too, when the port is not in use?

@Ibeme No the only AP to support wired clients is the AP11D.

I confirm I have an AP17 with version 2.0.1 which shows an Aruba 2920 switch as connected client... Kind of strange to me since it is not connectec through Wifi... And it is not an AP11D...

I am having the same issue. It shows the ports of the switches that the aps are connected to in the clients section. It's annoying when trying to figure out how many people are connected.

I have just noticed that with v2.0 of the portal my POE switch is showing up in the connected client window. Why?

The portal is already not working correctly so you can add this to the list of things to fix please.

    Regards

Yes, but an Switch connected to an AP15 which only has an uplink port shouldn't show up there. Smiley Happy
