I had an issue today where an AP11D in router mode would not obtain an IP address from the ISP when connected directly to a cable modem. A PC or another router could obtain an IP without issue and the AP would also obtain an IP from the existing router without issue.
Any ideas? Are there known problems with DHCP client functionality in certain environments?
One of the negatives about the easy to understand/manage solution is if or when something goes wrong there are no tools to aid troubleshooting an issue like this unless I'm missing something. It would be nice if there was a way advanced users could access a console to help identify certain issues.
@ethiSEC The ISP router that is not giving out a DHCP lease are they blocking the MAC address of the AP11D now? If you have access to the ISP router see if the MAC address of the AP is showing up, I assume you have power cycled the ISP router and the AP11D. If you are still having issues please reach out to support.
I've been doing some more testing on my network and the AP seems to be fussy about what offers it an IP address. My current DHCP server has offered a factory default device an IP address, however, the AP11D seems to refuse to accept it. I expect this was what was happening when connected to a cable modem.
