    Hi,

Is it possible to use the Ethernet port (for LAN connectivity) on the Indoor AP instant on 15 when the uplink is over WiFi (Mesh with other Instant on)?

@EduardoHG9  Ethernet bridging is not an option when using over the air (Mesh) connections.

This sounds like a nice feature that should be added. SMB who will be purchasing this product could utilize this feature for getting network connections in remote places of an office.

Thanks for your feedback. We release software updates periodically with enhancements. Do keep a lookout.

@GThiesen @Sharanya Have there been any updates to allow ethernet bridging via mesh? I have the same business requirement. At present the only alternative is to install a competitor's solution. I notice the original post is from about 6 months ago.

@twhiteOXEN You can use two AP11D's to create a mesh and plug-in devices on the point side of the mesh as they have additional ports. The AP15 still does not support this.

Thank you @GThiesen. Is it possible to leverage ports on the mesh AP side as well? Or only on the head end unit?

@twhiteOXEN Yes only on the AP11D.

So for any wired port functionality on the far end you would need to have a wire connecting the two AP11D units or a 3rd party point to point bridge connecting the two (Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, etc.)?

@GThiesen @Sharanya Any update on this? I assume that the AP17 also doesn't allow ethernet bridging when the uplink is mesh? I have 3 client sites that would be an instant buy if the AP17 allowed this, I can't install the AP11D outdoors so won't work in my situation (multiple out buildings on farm and lakefront properties). I've setup one farm with a Unifi solution but would prefer to deploy all Aruba. Thanks!

@scott83  No changes as of yet, and you are correct the AP17 will not do ethernet bridging.

I ended up pairing 2 x AP12 with a Mikrotik Wireless Wire W60G kit. I too would have preferred to be able to stay all Aruba. But I can say the combo has outstanding performance. The AP12s don’t waste any airtime doing backhaul and the 60Ghz 802.11d on the W60G provides gigabit speeds over wireless. And with Instant On the combo still gives seamless handoff as clients roam even on Voice calls. If budget can cover the AP17 + W60G combo it is definitely worth your time. The only caveat I’ve found is 60Ghz needs clear line of sight - no ability to reliably traverse building structures or even thin walls without signal drops.

Is it possible to use AP15 and AP11D so that AP11D acts as wireless bridge and I can use the AP11D Ethernet downlink to connect a device with ethernet cable to the internet?  OR do I really need 2 AP11D?  Can I select the network with VLAN which will be used in the downlink ethernet port?

@mikame  You can use an AP11D and create an over the air (Mesh) to an AP15, and still define additional VLANs on the ports of the AP11D.

thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for. I noticed that information out from the device and configuring options are very limited compared to IAP, of course the end user segment and pricing are also very different. I understood that the hardware itself makes it possible to have more features, so I will look forward for future software updates to see if this changes. I will buy now the AP11D.

Thanks @twhiteWC I will check this out! I'm still hoping they add ethernet bridging to all AP rather than just the AP11D.
