I had several AP22's and AP15's, with one AP17 outside pointing to garden, when I started playing with these InstantOns…. :-)
Originally tested AP22 in bookshelf about one meter from floor, another AP22 was on top of a table.
Wasn’t happy. A bit disappointed of their coverage, when they just laid on top of furniture.
Then tried them, turning them sideways/90 degrees, so that they (the top) would face the room and users.
Improved a lot.
But eventually ended up having 2 AP11D's, the tabletop ones, for those rooms I cannot mount them up high on the wall or to the ceiling.
Now happy.
It seems all flat/plate models should be centrally mounted in the ceiling pointing down or high on the wall, for best coverage.
Consider that AP11D model too, as they are designed to be mounted to the walls or to stay on top of table or furniture with the tabletop/windowsill (I have one behind a curtain, so it is nearly invisible) stand that comes with the package.
I don't know how good or bad it is compared to that AP22, I just needed good coverage from my mounting positions, much more than having the best and last model with all possible extras on it.
Has been in use now for several months, really happy with this system.
Now I have 2 AP22’s, 2 AP15’s, 2 AP11D’s and 1 AP17 in my set up, running from InstantOn 8 port PoE switch.

Subject: AP22 location
Hi, I am considering purchasing 2 AP22 devices to create a mesh in my 3500 sqf home but I cannot mount the units on the ceiling or walls. Can the AP22 work efficiently on top of furniture ?
Thanks
