  • 1.  10GbE SFP+ on 1930 support for 2.5GbE and 5GbE

    Considering the 24-port 1930 switch - I would like to know whether the 4 SFP+ ports support 2.5GbE and 5GbE (using SFP+ to RJ45 adapters)?
    If so - which adapters?

    Hi zachif,

    It appears 2.5 & 5 Gbps are not officially supported on the 1930 Series. You can find the details by clicking the "Support" link at the top of the page, then click "Documentation". Details for the SFP+ modules can be found on pages 33 - 36.

    Aruba recommends only using approved adaptors and based on a few posts, it's hit-or-miss on what unsupported adaptors will work.

    I did see those specs, but I found it strange the 10GbE ports never mentioned backwards compatibility with 2.5GbE and 5GbE. I was hoping someone tried it and have a conclusive outcome one way or the other. I have a couple 2.5GbE devices I would like to add to my network, and thinking ahead - I was after a switch with 10GbE capability... I prefer not buying a 2.5GbE switch only to upgrade it again in 2-3 years.

    Yeah, hopefully someone that's tried it out can jump in and let us know. That said, it always seems so sketchy as to what brand/model SFPs work and what don't. 
    I should grab a bunch and try them out...if I can find some time!

    Hey Zachi, as listed in our 1930 datasheet, 4 SFP/SFP+ support only 1G/10G. These switches do not support 2.5GbE and 5GbE rates. I posted our 1930 Switch datasheet below for reference.
