  • 1.  Configuring Aruba HPE AP22 in Local Management Interface

    Posted 08-05-2024 02:34 PM

    Good Morning,

I'm working with an Aruba HPE AP22, Software version 2.5.0.0_83058. My network consists of seven access points, with one designated to function as the controller.

Upon beginning the configuration, I noticed that it defaults to the Aruba Instant On portal (cloud solution). However, I prefer to configure the AP using the Aruba local management interface.

    My questions are:

    1. Is it possible to configure the Aruba AP22 in the local management interface?
    2. If not, do I need to implement a hardware controller to enable local configuration?

This is an urgent matter, so a prompt response would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

I assume you're mixing up things here.

Aruba Instant On is not compatible with HPE Enterprise and your "AP22" seems to be an Enterprise AP505 I guess.

In this case, you better post your question here:

A real AIO AP22 has no local management and the overall AIO product line has no "Controller" as it is almost fully cloud-managed.

AP22 is the same HW as AP505 but it's InstantOn FW. The only management option for InstantOn APs is InstantOn Portal. There is no local management option available.

    You can't flash AP22 to become AP-505.

As already answered InstantON FW is not compatible with Instant FW. You can't have Instant and InstantON devices in the same cluster and there is no common management.

    Best, Gorazd
