  • 1.  Extending site by one more AP

    Hi Community,

we are running the simplest setup currently - 1x AP11.
We noticed we receive barely signal in a room where we now want to start using WiFi.

However, that room is connected via Ethernet to the same switch we have our current AP11 currently connected to.

    So my questions are:

1.) can we cable connect a second AP11 to our network in a way they cooperate nicely? (we don't want to extend by Mesh, the signal is far too weak)
2.) will the clients like smartphones pick the strongest signal (mainly the AP nearest) when walking between the rooms?

Is there anything else we should consider? We love the idea to manage both devices from the Aruba Instant On Portal.

    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers,
    Birgit

    Hi Bernd,

I can only say: do it with another ArubaInstantON AP.

Once cabled you have to add the new AP to the site.

    1. Yes, the cable connects the second AP, and adding a device on the portal you will be able to onboard the second AP along with the configurations.
    2. Yes, clients will be able to roam between APs on the same site. However, the roaming trigger and the decision is solely from the wireless client.
