  • 1.  Switch is forcing a firmware update

    Good morning,

I think the answer might just be to do the upgrade, but I'm hoping i can delay that for the time being.

The MSP I work for has been contracted to help a customer who has 3 of these switches.

    Aruba Instant On 1930 48G 4SFP/SFP+ Switch JL685A

    These are locally managed.

One of them on login, tells me I need to do a firmware update, and there is nothing else I can do on the switch.

I'm not super familiar with Aruba. This honestly is probably more of a support ticket, but I wanted to add something here in case anyone had a quick and easy way to get beyond this. The switches will get updated, it just isn't the priority right now.

When the previous IT Prescence had done an update on one of the other switches, he bricked it (not sure on specifics), so again if I can hold of on doing this until we have a better footprint here, that's what i am looking to do. to not cause a bunch of issues out of the gate.

I'm not sure if I'm not adding information to help, but if anyone needs additional info let me know what I missed and I can add it in.

    Hi Matt,

This should not happen for all 1930 upgrades and only for a particular version 3 releases before if I remember correctly

Think there is no option except to upgrade which should go well.

Thank you for confirming. The IT professional who recently left had to do this on one of the other switches they have, and it ended up getting bricked on the update. Again, just trying to get a feel for what were walking into.

Ill get the update planned. Thank you again for responding.
