Best single AP15 placement in 3 story townhome

G'day,

Looking at AP options to replace current AP (desk mounted 3 external omni antennas, 21dbm for 5ghz with 5dbi gain, 3x3 mu-mimo)

Here are my current heatmaps for the 5ghz (black star indicates current AP position, blue star indicates AP15 wall mounted location).

Main floor AP locationMain floor AP location2nd floor2nd floorParitally finished basementParitally finished basement

Would look at wall mounting the AP15 at the blue star location, facing in. My concern is whether signal strength behind the unit significantly degrades? Master bedroom, bedroom 2 and part of eatin kitchen location fall a little behind the AP 15 location.

Would I be better served with multiple AP12s, wall or ceiling mounted instead?

Appreciate the advice!

@stego73  Here is a general look at what coverage would look like with ceiling vs wall mount. The best coverage might be to ceiling mount AP's to get maximum coverage. And two AP's would provide better coverage.Ceiling mount.pngWall.png

Thanks. I figured ceiling mount would be best but it’s my least desirable option as it involves more work. 😁

I guess the fact your antennas are « down tilted » also explains why wall mount is least desirable option.
