Using $-sign in SSID password prevents the SSID from beïng transmitted

We discovered by accident that when one uses a $ (dollar-sign) in a PSK, the SSID is not broadcasted. However there is no indication near the PSK field that $ is an illegal character. Perhaps that could be indicated , same way as illegal values are indecated in VLAN via red subtext ?
