    Does the switch needs to be turned off in order to connect the sfp+ cable.
    The assumption of that comes from the fact the sfp+ terminal plug has a circuit and pins instead of a regular RJ45 plug that uses only electrical components.

    No, the SFP+ port(s) and also the corresponding cable connection (cable into module) are both hot plug.

    SFP+ modules as far as i am aware (and have been doing in production for 10 years) are hot swap-able.
