    Posted 03-13-2023 09:19 AM

    Hi,

we are struggeling with the installation of a 1960 environment.

We want to create a Link Aggregation over 2 ports from two different physical switches via the Cloud Console - nothing special... (Edit: the both Switches are in one stack!)

But it doesn´t work via Cloud Console - Maybe  only via local mgmt ?

Do i have disadvantages when moving to local mgmt ? Do i have all cloud features also on the local WebGUi Mgmt on the 1960s?

Can i disable automatic updates on local mgmt ?

BR and thank you in advance

    Cedric

LAG across two different physical switches is not supported when the stack is managed via the cloud, however possible with Local Web GUI management.
Local Web GUI management has all of the features supported on the cloud plus additional knobs beyond the cloud as the portal is meant to be simple, and lightweight with more ease-of-use options.
However, Aruba Instant On Switches can be either local web GUI-managed or cloud-managed. Local management doesn't provide remote management capabilities.
Automatic updates don't happen on local management and the user has to manually upgrade software images.

    Hi,

i have the same problem like CR1 - no LAG over different switches in a stack. I think, it isn't possible to get a real high available configuration with, for example, Firewall (2 FWs in HA mode) -> Core Stack (2 Switches) -> Access Stack (2-4 Switches) with the cloud management. Anyway, there are so many differences between cloud and local management (1960s), that are not communicate in a feature list, i'm a little bit frustrated. The cloud management is the instant ONE ;-) reason, for buying "aruba instant on" switches. In my case, we have to switch to local management, because i find no solution to connect my cables without loops.

Is there anywhere a roadmap for upcoming cloud features or becoming cloud features similar to local available features?

    Thanks, Thomas

    Hi,

I'd recommend opening a support case here:

    https://www.arubanetworks.com/support-services/contact-support/

I did a few days ago for an issue I had with my 1830s & got a reply in less than a day.

They promised to fix my issue in the next firmware update.

    Thanks,

    Travis.

This is an old post but I thought i'd better respond as I did go through Aruba support.

The answer is no, the Cloud Portal does not create a real stack and therefore, doesn't allow LAG's over switches.

There's several options the 1960's support that simply do not exist in the cloud management portal, DHCP services as another example.

If you're buying 1930's and below, the cloud management seems to be fine, but 1960's and especially if they're acting as your core stack, they simply didn't develop the cloud portal for them, Local Management is the only way to go i'm afraid.
