  • 1.  1960 Switches - Can't route Layer 3 IP between VLANs on the same switch

    Posted 12-15-2022 11:32 AM
I have an ARUBA JL806A switch (V2.7.0) and I can't get Layer 3 IP traffic to route between VLANs.

    Switch Setup:
     Global Route ON
     VLAN 1  - Interface 192.168.1.1
     VLAN 2  - Interface 192.168.2.1

    Two computers:
    Computer 1  - On VLAN 1  192.168.1.2  GW 192.168.1.1
    Computer 2  - On VLAN 2  192.168.2.2  GW 192.168.2.1

Each computer can PING the switch Interface address for its VLAN
Each computer can PING the switch Interface address for the other VLAN on the switch (ie Computer 1 can ping 192.168.2.1)

The computers cannot PING each other.

The route tables in the switch indicate the correct routes, however the switch doesn't seem to be internally passing the IP Layer 3 packets between the VLANS

Has anyone seen this issue and resolved it?

Hi, I have somehow similar issue as well. I am using 1930 8G 2SFP and arranged VLAN 10 and 30 like this:

A computer on Data vlan can ping only 192.168.3.98 (gateway of Guest VLAN) and there is no other connectivity. Data VLAN cannot reach to the internet nor any other computers in the network of 192.168.3 or 192.168.1

I appreciate if someone can help me.

    Thanks
    Ali

    Hi Ali,
If you end up getting a solution from chat support (still included at 90 days) would you please share with the group? I've seen this as a common response to any IP routing questions "please work with support" but I don't recall ever seeing a resolution posted for this repeat request.

My instant on networks are typically very simple. But I may need L3 routing in the near future to offload from my core router upstream.

    Thank you!

    Tim
