  • 1.  AP22 - How to disable "Broadcast Filtering" using Instant-On Portal for Sonos

    Posted 02-09-2024 11:14 AM

Having issues with a Sonos speaker on a network using mulitple AP22's that are connected via the Instant-On Portal.

Contacted Sonos support, and they say we have to "Disable Broadcast Filtering" on the AP22 as that is a known issue that stops Sonos speakers from connecting to one another. They said we could re-enable this once the speaker pairs.

While searching this topic results in many known solutions of the Sonos requiring disabling of Broadcast Filtering to work with Sonos -- all of them seem to be for units connected via a Controller, and therefore has entirely different advanced menu options than what I can find in the Instant-On portal.

Is there a way to disable this feature through Instant-On on this device? Is there some other work-around I need to try besides this? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

In the user guide they  mention multicast services, such as  AirPlay and Google Cast. They seem to be only supported on employee networks (so guest networks will probably have client isolation) that are on the same network / vlan. And it only works on bridged networks. This is the only thing that I find about this issue.

I think I have a similar issue, not with audio but with video multicast... Looks very similar though...

I am able to make it work when the switch is in local management, since the in local management you have more controls on multicast and broadcast filtering, which is not possible when in cloud managed mode...

I have escalated this to the support and product team, including videos of what is happening, but did not get any feedback on all this...

Can you check maybe to put your switch in local management mode and see if it works then?
