Hi Cedric,
i want to thank you because i'm searching to understand HPE Aruba configuration and you are helping me a lot.
I attached an image where, as i understand, i add another links (2 per switch total) for downlink detection. Wanting to connect the Downlinks port via 1gb ports the switch automatically use the 10gb Link for Data flow?
Did you have some source with various HPE aruba instant on topology example?
Thank you and sorry for my repetitive questions.

Hi Danilo,
hmm... i would say yes, that should work!
You also can buy one switch more as cold standby and if the switch in CED 1 fails, you swap the switch manually. Its not "HA" but you keep the infrastructure running after a short downtime. But in my Opinion this is nearly the same as your Version 1, because i didn´t see any active links (exeption uplinks) for the slave... so you have to go there and put the links from master to slave manually, if the master fails? This isn´t really "HA".
So yes you can do it with 1 one switch and maybe put one cloud standby in your closet, would be the same.
Or alternatively you also plan a LAG Stack for CED and set a link for all servers to the second switch as well and configure it as LAG / LACP.
And yes you can tagg all VLANs you need to the trunk port.

Attached there is a new version maybe more clear.
Now there is only 1 switch located to the CED.
I need to propagate all VLANS via Trunk port.
It's possible and more simple in this way?

Hi Danilo,
im not sure if Aruba ION is made for an Active-Passive HA. Of course you can define a "Conductor" and a "BackUp" within one stack, but normally both are active and have active links.
Will the Slave get any active links?? I only see one, thats the phone station
The Stack Link should be in LACP (i think you had a typing error, you wrote LACD).
And yes one link ofe the Stack LAG should be via the SFP+ Ports (via DAC Cable for example) and the other via the 10G RJ45 Ports.
But maybe anybody with more experience in installing ION, can tell us his opinion. Im Doing mostly Pre-Sales / Design.

Hi,
we are planning to renew the Network component in our Office.
I'm interest in Aruba Instant On 1960 48p POE but before buying it i need to undertand if it can be used with our topology schema. I read the documentation but i have still some doubts.
I attached the schema and give you more info.
NGFW Fortinet , AP Fortinate
- The firewall will act also as a router being the gateway destination of all data VLANs.
- The firewall create the WiFi SSD with our AP (fortinet) whereas they are fully integrated (Captive portal, LDAP, Guest)
- We need to forward all the VLAN From the Switch located to the CED to the Switch located at 1° Floor via fibra 10gb uplink
- We need to set the 2 Switch located to the CED act as Master/Slave
- We need to set the 3 switch located to the 1° Floor as Stack Lag
So can i deploy the schema as attached using Aruba Instant On 1960?
Thank you in advance to all
